Need a little help please....

I picked up 2 Seeburg DWS2 speakers.
They appear to be original and as far as I can tell this is the first time they have been open. They have an Altec H811B horn with an 806A driver but they have two different woofers. Can anyone here recognize these speakers from the pictures and tell me anything about them? They have been sitting for years, are in very good shape and sound great. Any idea what they might be worth?

They appear to be the same woofer one has a magnet cover while the other does not.But they are the same.Are there any numbers on them that would help a bit I don't know what they are but I'm sure Bowtie will.

I can't tell you very much about them but I have one of those woofers sitting in my collection, mines a 12 inch paper cone accordion surround and mine is missing the magnet cover like yours is, there are #s on mine as follows, on the magnet 512655-3 directly below that is 328529 and on the backside of the mounting ring is what appears to be S295, hope maybe that helps somebody Id yours

Looks like Utah woofers and date code '328' proves it. '529' will be the 29th week of a year ending in '5', so I'm guessing 1965.

The speaker frames look the same but the magnets are different. I removed the cover from the one that has it.

From what I have read they are Utah but the uncovered one has a huge magnet and never had a cover nor will it fit, plus it is not tapped for the screw to hold a cover on like the other.

I do have some numbers if it helps....
The covered magnet speaker has 8295 painted on the cover.
Uncovered magnet has 512655-3 and 328531

At least the Altecs are the same.
Any estimates on their value would be appreciated.

Sorry i'm late for the party.

The woofer without the motor cover has a ferrite motor, the covered motor is alnico.

Probably sold as having the same parameters/characteristics, but how likely is that? From my understanding it's not possible, but whether any differences could be audible is subject for another discussion entirely.

FWIW, i think production of this style motor was very short lived, most of the bolted construction ferrites i've seen on Utahs were the square variety very similar if not the same as used by Becker/CTS, by early 70's they were round and the plates glued to the ferrite.

I think Bowtie hit it on the head as usual....
They probably used both of these speakers in these units and they probably sound similar but I agree with him, they cant be the same and I like stuff to match as well.

Now I am wondering what to do. I wonder what they might be worth to a Juke Box owner who might want them all original... They are in very good shape but I dont care for the formica cabinets. I wonder if they would be worth more to me as ca$h... or I could build some new cabinets and use them somewhere.

The owner said "I'll take whatever you think they are worth".
I need to give him something for them..... What's a fair price guys?

The real value is the horns...200 is a steal, 300 would be absolute top for me. I would redo them in a box with the woof underneath the horn. but that's me....

Honestly I would expect to score them for 200, maybe even less. But I'm a cheapskate.

I think my brother has a woof to match the uncovered one. If you want I'll inquire and message you with his email addy.

Edit- BTW GM is spot on. Mid 60's Utah stuff. These were off the market by 70 or early 70's.
